Virtual Teacher

Hello Everyone,
I hope you're having a great day today!
00H! AHHH! LOOK AT THIS
Jigsaw puzzles are great for Kiddos especially when they are photos of kiddos. I had such fun making the Jigsaw puzzle of myself - check it out below.
I decided to invent a new acronym this week. After a class full of folk that took no agency in their learning at all. I know they will come round once they have encoutered the joys of FSOFY. I just have to mention it now and they laugh and get into it.
Have a great week, whatever you're getting up to.
Enjoy...

ciao
Cathy

Figure Stuff Out For Yourself
[fizz-off-ee]
The META Skill
Why not just ask for the answer?
I bet you think figuring stuff out on your own is slower.
BUT
YOU have to wait for info from other people and your answers are limited to what those other people know.
So if they don't know the answers, you're STUFFED.

You open up way more potential answers if you try a little FSOFY.
BUT
if you ask questions that could easily be googled, questions that could easily be found by a little effort on your part, or are in the notes, you eventually annoy everyone.

So a bit of FSOFY develops trust and others see you as a reliable competent person.

Don't get me wrong, a good question is, well GOOD, but try a little FSOFY first.
Nothing works perfectly the first time.
If it does, you haven't learned anything, you already know it.

If it doesn't, be prepared for a fabulous learning journey. YEAH!

After a few of these failure experiences, you will become more persistent when you encounter failure.
Other folks might have already figured out this problem
There is a good chance that someone else has had your problem, so ask a good question on GOOGLE, which is direct and specific to find out a solution, or go to a forum.

Even so, there may be no specific 100% solution to your problem so you will have to finish solving the problem. How good is that.

When I began creating websites and designing, I relied heavily on NETSCAPE(a predecessor to the Google browser) to find solutions when I was stuck. To that end, I published this Code on the front of my VirtualTeacher website:-

This Website & Newsletter is not free, despite the misleading advertising above.
The FEE is now due.
Each week you must help one colleague on the Internet who has less knowledge than you.
Help that person even if you have to visit their classroom or do a little research and get back to them. Trust me, this will help a lot of people get their classrooms running much better much faster.
Oh! and send them a link to VT for inspiration.
OK I'm trusting you!!!

Info graphics are a visually stunning way to deliver facts and statistics.
YOU can make your own infographics to explain data.

CANVA is a fabulous option for creating iNFOGRAPHICS and it is free for most education users including the PRO features.
Just search the info graphics for the subject you want, then use the template to produce your info graphic.
Check out the The Virtual Teacher InfoGraphic page and be amazed at the possibilities.

iMOVIE

The latest iMovie updates are amazing. They have added 20 new storyboards, more and more I am getting students to create HowTo videos for the rest of the class to watch.

This scaffolding let’s you or your students create really emersive videos without to much planning.

Not a blank timeline but a really good structure to start. The videos are divided into different sections depending on the topic chosen. There is a prompt for each topic providing filming hints. You can delete and add sections rename and reorder them as well.
Here's a section of the "Book Report" option with a number of different styles.
.
Students can plan so you they what shots you need to get before you start filming

Watch this video to get a headstart. Plan + create videos using new storyboards in iMovie video Watch with the kiddos and learn along with them. Uou will love it and what a wonderful way to let students show what the know.

My grading system, if I am asked for one, is mostly binary, finished it, not finished - and splendidly finished. NF, F, SF.

Finished or not, students experience and learn from completing some of the journey.

TAKE A GREAT PHOTO AND TURN IT INTO A JIGSAW

Using JigSaw Explorer was such fun. It takes jigsaws to a whole new level, and of course, you need a great photo to start.
