A New Jumper

A Hilarious Animated Monkey Mischief Tale

A New Jumper is a funny, classroom tested picture book that has been delighting young readers for over 25 years.

I originally wrote A New Jumper 25 years ago and trialled it with real children in real classrooms. It began as a simple, handmade reader used with kindy kids to discover what actually worked.

What made them laugh.

What they could predict.

What made them shout the words out loud and ask for “one more time”.

Now lovingly reimagined with playful illustrations and a cheeky monkey at the heart of the story, A New Jumper blends repetition, humour and surprise to support early reading confidence while keeping children fully engaged.

Perfect for read-alouds and early independent reading, the story gently explores themes of choice, frustration and unexpected outcomes in a way young children instantly relate to.

A New Jumper is more than a story. It’s a joyful early literacy experience, built on decades of classroom insight and designed to be shared again and again.

Recommended for ages 4 to 8, with wide appeal for curious readers of all ages and lively classroom storytime sessions.

A New Jumper is part of the AMAZING Stories collection, a series of visually rich, imaginative books designed for curious kids who think differently, ask big questions and embrace creative chaos.

Each story encourages agency, persistence, bravery and the confidence to explore the unknown.
