Australian Poetry - Australia's Cultural
Network
Great Australian resource
This site at the Australian Culture and Recreation Portal argues
that poetry
has shaped our Australian national character. Legend is what shapes
national
character and our legends are told and retold across time and
space through
poetry. The site contains a brief history of unique movements
in Australian
poetry, links to works of Australian poets, and useful classroom
resources.
Poetry Corner - an Online Project - great site simple to follow.
In this project students express themselves creatively when they
write
poetry for a worldwide audience. Individual schools involved will
be able to
make their own anthologies of poems from around the world. Poem
formats will
be changed approximately every four weeks and students will be
able to
immerse themselves into a variety of different poems. During the
month poems
are emailed to a project coordinator where they are collated into
an
anthology of children's poetry for all to read. This is a Global
Classroom
project also listed on OzProjects.

to the
seminar's theme; some literary criticism of the featured poem;
other
relevant information or texts; and a selection of other poems
appropriate to
the poet/topic. Poets include Wilfred Owen, Rupert Brooke, Isaac
Rosenberg,
Siegfried Sassoon, Edward Thomas, trench poetry and songs, and
women's war
poetry.

competitions,
links, information on education opportunities and details of upcoming
events.

them with
fresh ideas and methods for making the most of poetry in the classroom.

World Poetry Day
This UNESCO site sees World Poetry Day as providing an occasion
for
activities and efforts carried out at different levels to support
poetry and
more particularly to promote publishing of collections of young
poets, a
return to oral traditions, topical themes, and promoting poetry
in the
media.
World Poetry Directory
This is a website created and hosted by UNESCO following the proclamation
of
World Poetry Day. Its aim is to list festivals, prizes, journals
and
associations of the world of poetry. It also provides links with
major web
sites, presenting poetry activities in UNESCO Member States, Associated
Members and Non-member States.
